Christmas_mainaSending a card can be great for business and there is nothing like spreading a bit of Christmas or holiday cheer to help build business relationships.

But if you want them to last long after the festivities are over, then check out our dos and don’ts to help you get things just right.

4 DOs and DON’Ts of Business Christmas Cards

DO send Christmas cards to customers, prospects and suppliers who celebrate Christmas.
DON’T send Christmas cards to people with different religious beliefs. Instead send something more appropriate such as a Holiday card with a more generic message.

DO send business personalised Christmas and Holiday cards of high quality. Aim to buy the best Christmas cards your budget allows.
DON’T send handmade Christmas or Holiday cards unless of course – you’re an artist. Sending homemade or cheap cards puts your business at risk of looking cheap.

DO send Christmas and Holiday cards that are in good taste. Traditional themes and messages are a safe bet when it comes to making a good impression.
DON’T send cards you think are funny. Humorous cards can offend some people however well you think you might know them.

DO sign your name and include a brief handwritten personalised message inside the Christmas or Holiday card to make a direct connection with the recipient.
DON’T be impersonal by just signing your name. Remember to place your company info below your signature and message to make sure the person you send your card to know exactly who it is from.

Make sure you send your cards and gifts as soon as possible during December as plenty of businesses shut up shop in the week of Christmas. If you do miss the deadline, you really can’t go wrong with a Happy New Year card to put your business top of mind when your client returns from holiday.
